Heather Avis and I talk about motherhood, adoption, down syndrome, how she would change society's view of down syndrome and just REAL. LIFE. Heather's book recently released in March, The Lucky Few. Which I read in one sitting in a Barnes & Noble. As a mom with relatively healthy children, I have no idea what motherhood looks like raising a child with down syndrome. With any unfamiliar territory you aren't sure what to ask, how to ask it, or how to help. Or even how to create a relationship with that mother or your children and theirs. Luckily this podcast I feel like gives me permission to ask what we normally don't find "socially acceptable" to ask. And I am so glad I did.
